We recently finished a living room and dining room makeover for our lovely client who was feeling it was really time for a change. She said she hadn't had anything new or updated since she was married 23 years ago. We get it! Family, school sports, work, ... life... it takes up so much of our time we can forget how it feels to step back and take a break. We think she not only needed a change but also so deserved to have a space that makes her feel completely comfortable and happy. A place to relax and unwind but also to entertain!

TLC HOUSE BEFORE & AFTER
in Before and after, demo, design, DIY, house flip, Real Estate, renovation, staging, by Tracey Jones, March 14, 2016
So many requests for the before and afters of our TLC House flip here in Victoria. 4 month process from purchase to SOLD! Lots of brain churning sleepless nights planning/thinking/budgeting but surprisingly not too much stress. Great business partner Leslie ( Thank you!) - great team of sub contractors - great property...just needed some love and some sweat and lots of patience!
TLC House Update
in design, Design on a budget, DIY, house flip, paint, renovation, by Tracey Jones, January 25, 2016
The good news is we are pretty much on schedule ( even with the holidays thrown in there!) and according to the banker ( L not T ) pretty close to on budget. I know I'll get told very quickly when we are NO LONGER on budget
so that keeps me a little scared and very thrifty! The sign of a good partner !
Working hard on the TLC House! This is the time in a renovation when it seem like lots is happening but not much change to see...messier, dirtier, uglier.
I always say it has to get way worse before it can be better!

BLUE MONDAY? Find your smile - maker!
in Blue Monday, color, design, Kim Crawford wine, styling, things that make you smile, upcyle, by Tracey Jones, January 06, 2014
According to lots of pseudoscientists today ( January 6 ) is BLUE MONDAY. The most depressing day of the year. And... it came early this year as it is generally gloom and doom day at the end of January! Oh Hurrah! Anyways... I'm a fairly positive outlook person but this got me thinking.
What makes me smile? ....
Here's a quick living room redo we just finished yesterday.
New paint helped transform this nice, tidy - but a little bit dreary - formal room into a bright and pulled together space for book club and other social events!
Using most of what our clients already had we redesigned the layout added in a few pieces of art & accessories ... bam!

fresh new look.
It's the day after Labour Day....I know...not a new year technically but this for me is always the time to get back to work, get inspired and get things done!
(do I hear cheerful humming from all the moms on their way to school ?! " ...the most wonderful time of the year...." lol) I usually do better at my September resolutions than I do at my January endeavours so I am going to stick with that plan :)
I also made a promise to my family at the beginning of summer that I would detach from my computer ( unless work necessary)... and guess what...it was fine!
Living Room Face Lift!
in Benjamin Moore HC-45, decor, design, design dilemma, interior styling, Living room makeover, redesign, ReMarkable ReDesign, by Tracey Jones, April 25, 2013
Here's a recent living room redesign ... a room that started off ...well honestly, not too bad! The bones of the room were awesome...big open space, hardwood floors, fab fireplace, creamy linen drapery and roman shades, white slip covered sectional and chairs and 3 tall black bookcases.
Our client called us with her dilemma...its all there but its just not completely working. Hmmm..we have definitely heard that before. Great furniture is one thing but what really makes a room feel pulled together is the layers that come after the furniture....
Here is our first look at the space.

So after months of planning, begging, pounding on doors at local retailers and trades we were finally able to give our friends at Holly House a home makeover they so needed and very much deserve.
Victoria's VISSR group ( Vancouver Island Stagers Stylists & ReDesigners) of which Stacey and I are active members - coordinate and implement a "Hands Up" project every year. This year we chose Threshold Society's Holly House....a house for young women ( ages 15-21) who are in transition from homelessness. Threshold and Holly House provide a safe home environment for these girls to find and develop life skills to get them on their feet all while being mentored in a loving and safe space they can call their own. There is also a house for young men in Victoria - Mitchell House. WOW!!! High Five to Threshold!!
The non structural makeover was such a great fit with our group of stylists. The house needed some TLC and no budget whatsoever to implement any upgrades. It was so important for us to make the common areas of the house feel like HOME. Using most of their existing furniture we were able to transform the space! ( this is called redesign folks...and yep we did this in one day- with exception of paint and flooring)
All trade labour , goods, and financial support was donated by fabulous Victoria community companies and local retailers. ( see list at end of this post) We are beyond grateful for this support!
Here's a small project snapshot of the before and afters....

A styling and design blog? Really? In all our spare time.... But yes a design and decor blog that speaks from our heart and attempts to show what we try to get across in our work but sometimes is hard to nail in a static website or photo display or even in a conversation.
( especially when you are waving your arms about madly saying over and over OMG its so amazing...)
